Living and Thriving in Cold Climate

How do you feel about cold weather?

I didn’t always like the cold, but I moved to Montana in 2011 and fell in love with the area. And part of being in this area is learning to live in a cold climate, particularly since our cold season lasts from October until April and sometimes even into May. Over time, I found that my body acclimated and the cold stopped bothering me as much.

Now we have two huskies, a border collie, and my eldest daughter was born not feeling cold at all. Ever since she was born, she would scream if I put her in fleece or thick clothes. She wants to play outside constantly, even in the middle of winter.

A woman, with a light pink hat featuring black feather designs and a logo, is holding a newborn baby wearing a light blue hat with airplane motifs. They are standing near an open doorway, with a snowy landscape visible behind them. The baby appears to be sleeping while wrapped in a purple jacket, matching the woman's. Another child, likely a toddler, dressed in a pink coat with a hood covered in a leopard print pattern, can be seen walking away on the snow-covered ground outside.
Nothing can stop us from spending time outside

There is something refreshing about the cool, crisp air that energizes me in ways that warm weather cannot.
