Blessed with the challenge to be a mother
At the hospital to give birth to my twins, I had a nurse tell me “I can see why you were blessed with twins, you are so calm no matter what is going on. You’re so flexible in everything that is happening. It seems like nothing is overwhelming you.”
And this made me think: God sent these two babies to Earth at the same time because he knows I can be a good mother to them. He believes in me, so I need to believe in myself even when things are hard. And I can do that through exercising my faith in Jesus Christ.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28-30
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
When our life circumstances overwhelm us, we can turn to the Lord to have help bearing our burdens, to give us rest.
This doesn’t mean our trials and challenges will be miraculously resolved and life will be easy again. No, God gives us challenges to help us learn and grow. It means we can turn to our Savior for support and guidance. When life’s circumstances bring you to your knees, take the opportunity to pray while you are kneeling. We never have to bear our burdens alone.
My children are my greatest challenge in life. They are also my greatest blessing. It is easy for me to stay calm even when overwhelmed because I know Jesus Christ is by my side and my Heavenly Father watches over me.
As long as I turn my heart to Him, all will be good in the end.
